Wang earns Professional Award in Industrial Engineering

Danny Wang was presented with the 2019 Professional Award in Industrial Engineering during the annual Speed School homecoming dinner held October 25 at the Brown Hotel.

Wang is a Senior Vice President, Director of Credit Risk Modeling and Analytics at Republic Bank & Trust Company. Dr. Wang provides process leadership to drive efficient management of existing quantitative models, identification and evaluation of new data and incorporation of new techniques. He serves as the trusted analytic and strategy advisor and provides analytic thought leadership and detailed analytic plans for the team to execute on key models. He is a key role in development of quantitative model(s) involving risk, profitability, loss forecasts, and collections. Dr. Wang also plays a key role in strategy implementation as liaison between the analytical department and line of business decision makers. He provides ad hoc analytical support to line of business decision makers.

Over twenty years in American business, including stints with UPS Logistics and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Detroit Medical Center etc., Dr. Wang has developed predictive and optimization models for health insurance, logistics, and financial service industries.

Dr. Wang received his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Tongji University, his master’s degrees in computer information system and industrial engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy and Wayne State University, and his Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the University of Louisville. Dr. Wang is a senior member of IEEE and IIE. He has published research papers in research journals such as International Journal Collaborative Enterprise, Journal of Biomedical Informatics etc., and he is also a peer reviewer for potential publications for research journals such as Computer & Industrial Engineering. Dr. Wang serves on the board of directors of data mining program at University of Central Florida. His research interests include real time decision support system, credit risk management, business intelligence, system engineering and optimization, data mining, machine learning, and uncertain data analysis.
