The Multimedia Research Lab (MRL) is a part of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Louisville. Our group has two main streams of research activities.
First, we conduct research in the areas of Multimedia Information Indexing and Retrieval, Multimedia Data Mining, Multimedia Information Fusion, and clustering and classification of multimedia objects. Second, we are involved in developing, implementing, and field testing real-time algorithms for land mine detection using Ground Penetrating Radar. We conduct basic and applied research in the areas of image & signal processing, pattern recognition, and information fusion. Our focus is the development of efficient and robust algorithms that can be adapted to different geographic sites and different environmental conditions.
