Nihat Altiparmak

Asst Professor

Nihat Altiparmak received his B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Bilkent University in May 2007 and his combined M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio in May 2013. He joined the Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Louisville in August 2013, where he is currently an Associate Professor. His research interests include data storage systems, parallel and distributed systems, high performance computing, cloud computing, and computer networks. His research findings have appeared in top-tier international journals including IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, ACM Transactions on Storage, and ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks. He received the National Science Foundation's (NSF) CISE Research Initiation Initiative (CRII) award in 2017, with his research in Automatic Storage System Optimizations. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and the founding director of the Computer Systems Laboratory at the University of Louisville.
