Dr. Bhaskar, dedicated faculty member, dies

Dr. Nageshwar Bhaskar
Nageshwar Bhaskar, PhD, PE, a long-time faculty member of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Louisville J.B. Speed School of Engineering, died February 23, 2021. He was 70 years old.
“Dr. Bhaskar was a great professor, colleague, and friend to all of us,” said Zhihui Sun, professor and chair of CEE. “He will truly be missed.”
Dr. Bhaskar studied at the Indian Institute of Technology before earning a master’s degree from the University of Maryland in 1974, followed by a doctorate in civil engineering from The Ohio State University in 1978.
In 1984, he joined the Speed School faculty. His professional expertise was in the area of hydrology, hydraulics and water resources systems engineering. Over the past four decades he developed and taught courses both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He conducted sponsored research in collaboration with federal and local agencies. Results from this research have been published in numerous well recognized journals both in the US and abroad.
He is survived by his wife, Kalpana, and daughter, Vinita.
