BioEngineer Joel Graham Honored as 2013 Outstanding Young Engineer

Outstanding Young Engineer Awardee, Joel Graham, is a Clinical Engineer at HeartWare Inc., Miami Lakes, FL., where he presently works on the development and analysis of heart pumps for patients needing circulatory support.

Joel is a high honors graduate of Bioengineering Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the J. B. Speed School. He completed his Master’s Degree in December of 2010 with applied experience and specialty on the treatment of Severe Aortic Stenosis via an Aortic Bypass Apical Cannula which resulted in a provisional patent (US. Provisional Patent Serial No. 61/414,506).

He has received and participated as Vice President of the Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR), founding member and executive committee member of Phi Delta Theta’s new chapter, and as member of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES). He has received honors through Mortar Board Senior Honor Society, the University of Louisville Honor’s Program, the Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR), the Provost Hallmark Scholarship Award Program, Dean’s List, and Governor’s Scholar Program (Kentucky).
