The Algebra Proficiency Assessment (APA) is an online test intended to be worked without using a calculator or any other aids. As part of the Speed School’s effort to position freshman engineering students for a successful first year, all entering engineering students will complete an Algebra Proficiency Assessment (APA). The assessment uses virtual proctoring provided by ProctorU. Before scheduling the assessment with ProctorU, it is strongly recommended that students take the Algebra Proficiency Assessment (APA).
To get started, please follow along with the video below:
PLEASE NOTE: As of this time, you will no longer need the Lockdown Browser to complete the Practice Assessment or Study Guide. Please forego and proceed with completing the APA.
A practice assessment, the APA, is available in the same MyMathLab portal, but does not require virtual proctoring. The practice assessment allows students the opportunity to become familiar with the concepts that are in the assessment and the format of test questions and answers. Once students have completed the APA, they can then access the Study Plan, there they can see which topics were mastered and which topics need review. In the study plan, students can practice similar problems, seeing worked examples if they need help, and taking short quizzes to test their mastery.
When students feel confident, they can then schedule a proctoring session with and take the Algebra Proficiency Assessment.
Students needing additional time, or other accommodations, to complete the Algebra Proficiency Assessment should contact the Office of Admissions at 502-852-0399 or 502-852-4672 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For students who do not have necessary internet access or technology to access the Algebra Proficiency Assessment should contact the Office of Admissions at 502-852-0399 or 502-852-4672 or via email at email@example.com.
