It’s important to enroll in classes that are right for your skill level so you don’t waste time or money taking classes you don’t need. Placement testing (such as Math) is required for some students and other testing (such as CLEP) is optional.
UofL staff will individually review your record to determine if you will benefit from Math placement testing. In some cases, test scores are used to meet prerequisites for enrollment in courses, so it’s important that we have your most up-to-date scores. If our staff determines you need to complete placement testing, a checklist item will be added in your New Cards Gateway and we will communicate with you via email. Accuplacer placement exams need to be completed prior to orientation.
If U of L does not have an ACT/SAT score for you it’s an automatic YES, you need to take the Accuplacer.
|Math||ACT score 0-27|
SAT score 260-640
|ACT score 28+|
SAT score 650+
Each option will first require an account registration with RegisterBlast. You will be charged a $5 fee that allows you to register for any exam on our site for a full year – make sure you use the same email address each time you register for an exam.
Students may take the Accuplacer Math test up to 3 times, as necessary. Students will pay the testing fee each time. If you decide to retake the Accuplacer, we highly suggest reviewing the practice content available through the study app.
If you have received ADA accommodations such as reduced distraction, a reader or a scribe from U of L’s Disabilities Resource Center (502-852-6938), please call our office BEFORE scheduling any exam.
The ACCUPLACER placement exams are UNTIMED, so no ADA accommodations are required for extended time candidates.
