Speed School offers three options for students to continue their education beyond a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering.

The quickest path to a Master’s degree in Engineering is through our 4+1 program. Each undergraduate Engineering discipline enables you to earn your MEng just three semesters after your Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Louisville. As an added bonus, your tuition rate remains the same, even as a graduate student!
This degree is only available to students who earn an undergraduate degree at the University of Louisville. If you’re an undergraduate student and are interested, fill and complete the Graduate Application.

The Master’s in Engineering in Engineering Management online is designed for experienced engineers who want to develop superior skills in managing engineering projects, products and services. UofL’s online Engineering Management degree builds on your current knowledge and experience to expand the professional opportunities available to you. Gain the credentials and knowledge you need to take charge of complex engineering projects, play an active role in the development of your organization, move into leadership roles and increase your earnings.
As an online Engineering Management student, you will have the chance to learn more about this technique, complete a Six Sigma process improvement project and earn your black belt through the Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE).
Beginning Fall 2023, all students enrolled in our on-campus MS engineering degree programs will pay the resident graduate tuition. This offers a significant cost savings to our welcomed out-of-state and international MS graduate students.
If you completed or are about to complete an undergraduate degree from another college or university, or if you studied something other than Engineering as a UofL undergraduate, the Master of Science in Engineering is made for you.

The Master of Science programs require you to complete an online application to the School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies. Your application must also include a non-refundable $65 fee. Send at least two letters of recommendation (check with your department if more are required), official GRE scores, and final college/university transcripts to:

Seven Areas of Study offer a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering: Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

If you are a qualifying doctoral-level student, you may be awarded fellowships worth $22,000 per year, plus full tuition and health insurance. These funding sources can be renewed annually for up to four years.
International students must also demonstrate English proficiency by supplying official TOEFL or IELTS exam results. Click here for additional information on international student application requirements.
In certain disciplines, certificates can be a great way to receive specialized training and advance your career goals. Some employers may even require certification, and all employers will value the extra skills and knowledge that you’ve gained.

With an emphasis on sustainability and renewable energy, Environmental Engineering touches nearly everything we do at Speed School. You’ll learn a combination of chemistry, biology, mechanical engineering, and chemical engineering.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers this certificate program. The certificate can only be awarded upon completion of a graduate degree (MEng, MS, or PhD) at Speed School.

UofL’s graduate certificate in Six Sigma provides students with techniques and knowledge in mission-critical business areas such as: cutting costs, increasing revenue and productivity, as well as overall strategies for improvement of processes. Graduates will be ready to complete the Six Sigma Black Belt examination through the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE).
The online Graduate Certificate in Six Sigma is designed for professionals who are ready to advance their potential as industry leaders through industry-proven techniques and expertise in process improvement.
