Co-op

For more than 90 years, the University of Louisville’s J.B. Speed School of Engineering has been one of the top choices in the country for engineering graduates. By combining on-the-job training through a mandatory co-op program and a thorough classroom curriculum, J.B. Speed School of Engineering is a leader in engineering education.

Co-op is an ACCE accredited academic program integrating classroom learning with work experience in the student’s field of study. Students normally co-op with the same employer for three alternating semesters beginning in their fifth semester of study. Upon the completion of their undergraduate degree, students have a full year of professional work experience.

The Benefits of Hiring a Speed School Co-op Student:

  • Access to motivated productive engineering students – that can help with entry level assignments.
  • A great recruiting pipeline. Many of our employers hire former co-op students in full-time positions which reduces recruiting and training cost.
  • Co-op students are enthusiastic employees who are excited to learn and bring new ideas to the workplace.
