Alum Robert Rankin Honored with Professional Award in Industrial Engineering

Rob Rankin, a prominent figure in Industrial Engineering, was recognized with the 2023 Alumni Professional Award from the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering. With a distinguished career spanning over 30 years, Rob began his journey at 3M as a production manager, where he honed his leadership skills and eventually worked his way up to plant manager. His career journey also included pivotal roles at Texas Instruments and Philips, Inc., where he contributed significantly to various aspects of plant and facilities management.

In addition to his corporate success, Rob served as a Navy Officer in Facilities Management, achieving the rank of Commander. His military service included deployments in the Middle East, where he earned the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for his exceptional contributions. Armed with advanced degrees and certificates, Rob’s passion for education, innovation, and community engagement can be traced back to his formative years at the University of Louisville. His journey is marked by the mentorship of influential faculty members and a commitment to fostering knowledge and personal growth. Currently, Rob holds the position of Vice-President of Facilities at Bartlett Maritime, where he focuses on the repair and reconditioning of components for Virginia Class Nuclear submarines. His career and contributions exemplify a dedication to education and community development.
