Alum David Riggs Honored with Professional Award in Mechanical Engineering

David Riggs

David Riggs is a standout professional with a remarkable career in the electric utility industry, spanning over 30 years. As the Chief Operations Officer at Alpine Intel, he has achieved numerous accolades in his field, including the FIS Distinguished Professorship Award and UNF Distinguished Professor Runner-Up Award. With a background in research spanning artificial intelligence, supercomputing, and health informatics, David has made significant contributions through scholarly publications, patents, and substantial federal funding.

Beyond his academic pursuits, he is deeply committed to community development, actively participating in various committees and councils. His tireless dedication is exemplified through the Co-operative Student Engineering Program at Vivorte, offering industry experience to budding engineers. David’s journey is characterized by his unwavering commitment to education, innovation, and community engagement.

David earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from UofL’s Speed School in 2002, followed by a master’s degree in 2003. He continued his educational journey with a master’s in business administration from the College of Business.
